Love Music is committed to the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First policy. We strive to be an organisation which sees employees, freelancers and volunteers engaged in what we do and we promote positive approaches to make Love Music a flexible and dynamic place to work.
Effective Voice
We believe in empowering our workers’ voices. We are a small team and encourage feedback and active involvement and input at all stages of a project’s development and delivery. We have weekly core team meetings and monthly one-to-ones with senior team members, encouraging all to take an active part in all aspects of the organisation, including their own professional development. We respect and celebrate each other’s points of view and opinions. We strive to remove hierarchy from decision making, valuing all voices.
Opportunity
We run a fair and transparent recruitment process. We invest in training for our team focusing on organisational priorities and individual personal development. We carry out skills audits for our Board recruitment to ensure each member can take an active role within the team, and we provide side-by-side training for new Board members.
Security
We offer meaningful work which provides a reliable income offering contracts on sensible hour-based rates. We do not use or issue zero-hour contracts. Our minimum entry point is significantly above the Real Living Wage and has always been above both the Living Wage and the Real Living Wage. All freelancers involved in planning, programming or delivery are paid fairly for their work.
Fulfilment
We promote fulfilment at work and support employees to identify areas of progression and personal growth that we can support to ensure a happy and fulfilling work life. As a small, remote working team, we encourage a feeling of belonging through working closely together and encouraging involvement in organisational and personal development opportunities, and personal growth potential and areas of interest. We hold annual development conversations and monthly one-to-ones to support wellbeing. We encourage ideas to increase worker wellbeing and fulfilment.
Respect
Our dignity at work policy can be found here [link]. Staff are entitled to be treated with respect and dignity at work and have a personal responsibility for ensuring that they treat others the way they would expect to be treated themselves.
Health and Safety for our employees is embedded in the organisation.
We offer flexible working to all employees and work flexibly with individuals on their needs to balance work and home life.
