Launched in 2006, The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle is a highly successful project aimed at young emerging songwriters, bands and ensembles working across a broad and eclectic range of genres from indie, funk, folk, pop, ambient to high energy thrash for percussion.
Each new project offers unique opportunities for local bands to work alongside mentors and professional composers, developing new skills in arranging, orchestration, composition and performance.
Lasting between 5-6 months the project culminates with a weekend of intensive rehearsal, performance coaching, recording and a big stage performance alongside professional musicians.
The original Swindle was co-produced in association with Perth Concert Hall and St Magnus International Festival in Orkney, and was also performed at The Old Fruitmarket Glasgow in March 2009.
… inspirational. The quality of their work in terms of music and the way they collaborate with others is consistently high, ambitious and effective. They deliver projects that stretch the imaginations and skills. They open eyes, ears and minds to the possibilities of higher levels of personal and musical achievement. ~ The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle
