Neil Weir is a Chartered Engineer who has combined a career in industry with a long-standing involvement in voluntary work in the Arts sector.
Neil has a love of music and was delighted to take on the role of Chairman of Love Music in 2018. Since his appointment, Love Music has made a number of appointments to diversify and strengthen the board. Neil is also a Director of Making Music, the UK’s umbrella organisation for leisure-time music groups.
He has also been involved in the world of theatre for many years and is currently Chair of Edinburgh-based Grid Iron Theatre Company and a Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society. He is also a judge for the Scottish Theatre Awards on the Fringe, an annual celebration of the best Scottish theatre talent.
Neil has a passion for all the performing arts and can regularly be found in concert halls and theatres. He is a keen amateur musician and sings with the Edinburgh Bach Choir.
He is also very keen on sport, both watching and participating, and tries to keep fit through playing football, running and yoga.
