Zain joined the team in April 2024, and helps set up the stage and look after the tech for choir rehearsals.
Zain studied music at the University of Edinburgh, with a focus on piano, composition and community music. Now he’s graduated with a first class honours degree, he can be found gigging around Scotland’s central belt with various bands across many musical genres.
Zain plays piano, cello, bass, guitar and sings, and played with Cellos For Change in community music projects in Edinburgh, Belfast and Athens. He was commissioned by Scottish Opera to write a song for its Breath Cycle project, which works with people suffering from long covid. Zain was the musical director of the Edinburgh University jazz orchestra and led them on a tour to Prague; they also sold out McEwan Hall! He will be leading the choir in a community music project at the Queen’s Hall on 17th December and will be releasing his own EP in the next few months.
In his spare time, he likes spending time with his family, including going to the rugby with his Dad and the opera with his Mum and hanging out with his sister.
